Maggie Grace was born Margaret Grace Denig in September 21 in 1983. She is an American actor best known for her character Shannon Rutherford in ABC TV series Lost. Maggie Grace is originally from Worthington located in Ohio dropped out high school, and relocating in Los Angeles after her divorced parents divorced. Her first role came to her in the film, Rachel's Room's main character in 2001, despite having a difficult time financially. The TV film Murder in Greenwich, in which she portrayed 15-year-old Martha Moxley earned her the nomination for the Young Artist Award. In 2004 Grace was chosen to play Shannon Rutherford in the television show Lost in which she was a main actor for the first two seasons. She was also awarded an Screen Actors Guild Award shared with the ensemble cast. Grace was forced to quit the show in order to pursue a acting career. The actress had been on the show with Tom Welling opposite in The Fog earlier in the year 2005. She also was on screen in Suburban Girl The Jane Austen Book Club and also, as the Liam Neeson character Kim Mills as Kim Mills for Taken. She reprised the role in Taken 2 (2012) and Taken 3 (2014).She played the leading role in Alice on Malice in Wonderland a modern take on Lewis Carroll's novel Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Grace played the role of Shannon in Lost, including the finale. Grace was a part of the show's sixth season which ran from 2013 to 2014. She plays Faith, a groupie who serves as a model for the stars and catches the attention to Hank Moody (David Duchovny). She is part of Gyllenhaal's family, and is the older sister of Jake Gyllenhaal. The career of her mother began when she was a teenager as she was cast in minor roles in several films that her father directed. In addition, she was a part of her brother on the 2001 famous movie Donnie Darko. The next film she appeared in was Adaptation Confessions of a Dangerous Mind as well as Mona Lisa Smile (2003). Gyllenhaal received nominations for the Golden Globe Award in both the romantic comedy Sherrybaby (2005) and in the romantic comedy Secretary (2002). Both films received acclaim from critics. Her fame grew for her role as Rachel Dawes, a superhero in The Dark Knight (2008), thanks to several successful commercial films she starred in in 2006. She was nominated to win an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her performance in Crazy Heart, (2009). Then she appeared in dramas and comedies which included Nanny McPhee's Big Bang (2010) Hysteria 2011, and Won't Back Down 2012 Her other roles includes Secret Service agents in White House Down (2013 Action thriller), actors in Frank (2014 Drama The Kindergarten Teacher 2018), and her role as the Kindergarten teacher. In 2021, Gyllenhaal has made her scriptwriting and directed debut in the psychological thriller The Lost Daughter for which she was awarded The Lost Daughter the Venice International Film Festival's Best Screenplay Award and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay.
