Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. She relocated to Oxfordshire when she was five years old and attended at the Dragon School. Emma was inspired to become an actor at age six. For several years, she attended the Oxford branch Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. From the age of 10 the actress took part in as the lead in several Stagecoach School plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 film adaptation from J.K. Rowling's bestselling British novel was published in 1999. Emma was discovered as a casting representative by her Oxford drama instructor. David Heyman told Emma along with Rupert Grint, Daniel Radcliffe after they all had 8 consecutive auditions. Emma's first cinematic appearance was in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in the year 2001. The film was also the most successful film in 2001. Its opening weekend and day the sales were record breaking. Critics gave high praise to the film, particularly the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph, an important British paper, called Emma's acting "amazing". In the following days, Emma was nominated for five awards for her role in the film, winning an award called the Young Artist Award for Leading Actress of a Younger in an Feature Film.
